Pour A Glass, We Are Celebrating National Prosecco Day

On August 13th, alcohol enthusiasts celebrate National Prosecco Day. When the summer is winding down, it's critical to make the most of the remaining days. Prosecco is perfect for any occasion, be it a get-together with friends or a trip to a music festival. Located in Veneto, Italy, Prosecco is one of the most popular sparkling wines in the United States. But the mousse is what sets prosecco apart. Bubbles are a great way to add a dash of pizazz to any occasion. National Prosecco Day was instituted in honor of the bubbly wine, whose sweet flavor and light perfume have made it synonymous with good times. We hope you'll join us in toasting this tasty concoction and learning about its fascinating history.

What is Prosecco?

It is named after the village of Prosecco in the province of Trieste, Italy, and is an Italian DOC or DOCG white wine produced throughout nine different provinces in Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The Prosecco grape is used in its production, as implied by the name.

The History Behind National Prosecco Day

Riondo Prosecco was the brains behind the creation of National Prosecco Day. On August 13, it was decided that prosecco would be a good choice for a sparkling drink because the type of drink is sparkling prosecco. In 2010, Riondo Prosecco was ranked one in the world for Prosecco, and in 2011, it won a Gold Medal at Vinitaly for Minner. Terlato Wines purchased the brand in January of 2016 for what seems like no reason at all. A wine made from the Prosecco grape is called Prosecco because it is named after the Italian village of Prosecco. In addition to the well-known sparkling variety, a still wine version is also produced and sold.

Fynes Moryson, an Englishman who traveled to Italy's northern regions, was the first person to mention the term "Prosecho". In 1593, Moryson listed "Prosecho" as one of Italy's most renowned wines. A higher-quality wine was produced as a result of tweaks to the winemaking process.

The low price of this high-quality wine helped prosecco sales outside of Italy soar over the new millennium, according to the New York Times. One-quarter of Italian manufacturing was exported to the United Kingdom by 2010. As a result, prosecco is still one of the most popular wines sold in the United States today.
